The Youth
Chat Room is open at specific times for specific ages so that Orthodox
youth can meet, develop friendships, and discuss issues concerning
them. In addition to open discussion, we can also schedule discussions
on specific topics, or with guest speakers. Have an idea for a topic
or a guest? E-mail us at youth@oca.org
with the words "Chat Room Ideas" in the subject line.
Entrance
into the chat room requires a password which can be obtained by talking
to your parish priest. Once you get the password be sure NOT
to pass it along to others. If you find out someone is interested,
have them contact their parish priest.

*The
Jr High/Middle School and High School rooms require a password. The
password is available from your local parish priest. If they have
difficulty locating it, they can contact the OCA Youth and Young Adult
Office at 516.922.0550 ext 141 or e-mail us at youth@oca.org.

Guidelines
Please
remember that this site is hosted by the Orthodox Church in America.
Treat others kindly and with respect, and please feel free to have
fun while keeping conversations appropriate. All sessions are monitored
by Office personnel and any inappropriate/unchurchly conduct or conversations
can ban someone from these chat room sessions. Thank you.
Remember
your basic safety guidelines whether you are in a chat room or e-mailing
people:
- never
agree to meet someone alone
- never
meet someone without telling your parents, or in the case of college
students, telling someone who will know where you are meeting
- never
meet someone in a non-public secluded location
- never
give out your full name, phone number, or address
- never
give someone the password for this chat room. If a person expresses
interest, direct them to an Orthodox Christian clergyman who will
then give them the password.
We
strongly urge you to follow these guidelines.

Agreement
I hereby confirm that I am a person aged 10-17 years old and am either
an Orthodox Christian, or a person interested in the Orthodox Christian
Faith. I agree to conduct myself in an orderly and Christian manner.
I understand that, if I engage in any activity that is in conflict
with the Orthodox Christian Faith, I may be expelled immediately from
the chat room and banned from using it in the future. I acknowledge
that I have read the safety guidelines above and will comply with
them for my own personal safety as well as the safety of the other
people in the chat room.
I
also confirm that I received the chat room password from an Orthodox
clergyman and will not distribute this information to anyone else.
I understand and agree to direct interested people to an Orthodox
clergyman for the password.
