Scouting – The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting [EOCS] was created in 1960 by the Standing Conference of Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA), to conduct the mission of our Lord and His Church via the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts USA programs on a national level. Since its inception, the Orthodox Church in America has been intimately involved in the work of the EOCS promoting its programs, assisting in the development of its religious awards, and providing an Orthodox Christian witness at National and Regional scouting events. Fr John Bacon currently serves as the Department's liaison with the EOCS. You can e-mail him directly at burbank302@aol.com . Programs Religious Awards : The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting challenges youth to learn more about through a extensive Religious Award program. They have designed the Religious Awards Program around a scout's spiritual life. It gives the scout a chance to work closely with their spiritual Father to earn their award. The unique bond formed at this age is a stepping stone for the rest of their spiritual life. 3 Youth & 1 Adult Award:
